Stucco Wire Mesh Roll / Welded Wire Mesh

Galvanized Welded Wire Mesh for Stucco & Exterior Plaster Systems
1-1/2" × 1-1/2" Mesh
17 Gauge
54" × 100 ft
Hot-Dip Galvanized
Stucco Wire Mesh Roll / Welded Wire Mesh

Product Overview

Stucco Wire Mesh Roll, also known as Welded Wire Mesh, is a galvanized welded-wire reinforcement used as a base for exterior stucco and Portland cement-based plaster systems.

Manufactured from cold-drawn, low-carbon steel wire, the wires are resistance-welded at the intersections to form a stable square mesh. Galvanized coating helps provide corrosion resistance.

The self-furring design creates space between the wire and substrate, helping provide mechanical keying for the stucco layer.

Material & Welded Structure

Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel Wire

The welded wire lath is manufactured from low-carbon, cold-drawn steel wire with a Class 1 galvanized coating.

The wire complies with the mechanical requirements of ASTM A641, while the galvanized coating provides corrosion resistance for stucco and exterior plaster applications.

Galvanizing: Approx. 0.2 oz./sq. ft. coating weight based on Trowel Trades product specifications.

Resistance-Welded Joints

Longitudinal and cross wires are resistance-welded at their intersections, creating a consistent square mesh structure and helping maintain stable mesh geometry during handling and installation.

Installation Information

For 17 Gauge 1-1/2" × 1-1/2" welded stucco wire, installation should follow the applicable project requirements and building codes.

  • May be applied to vertical wood or metal framing.
  • Fasteners should attach the lath at furring crimps or wire intersections.
  • Side laps: minimum one mesh.
  • End laps: minimum one mesh and located over supports.
  • Installation should follow the applicable requirements of ASTM C1063 and applicable building codes.
Important: Installation must follow the applicable project specifications, manufacturer instructions and local building codes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is stucco wire mesh?
Stucco wire mesh is a welded wire reinforcement used as a base for exterior stucco and plaster systems.
What is the difference between stucco mesh and welded wire lath?
In many construction contexts, these terms describe welded wire reinforcement used as a plaster or stucco base. The exact configuration depends on mesh size, wire gauge, furring and applicable specifications.
What mesh sizes are available?
Common configurations include 1-1/2" × 1-1/2" and 2" × 2" welded stucco wire mesh.
Is stucco wire mesh galvanized?
The products described here use galvanized steel wire. Class 1 galvanized coating is specified for the Trowel Trades products covered by ESR-1808.
Is the mesh self-furring?
Yes. The Trowel Trades configurations use 1/4" furring crimps, with spacing depending on the mesh configuration.
What roll sizes are available?
Common configurations include 48" × 112.5 ft and 54" × 100 ft, depending on mesh opening and wire gauge.
Product dimensions, gauges, furring configurations and packaging may vary according to the selected specification and project requirements. Please contact us for current product details.
