Crimped Wire Mesh
Crimped Wire Mesh is a strong and dimensionally stable woven wire mesh manufactured by pre-crimping the wires before weaving. This process creates accurate and consistent mesh openings while securely locking the wires at the intersections. Available in galvanized iron wire and stainless steel wire, it is widely used for screening, sieving, filtration, architectural applications, and industrial separation.
- Pre-crimped wires maintain precise and uniform mesh openings, making the mesh suitable for applications where screening accuracy is important
- The crimping process locks the wires firmly together, providing excellent structural stability and resistance to deformation
- Heavy-duty wire construction provides good impact resistance and wear resistance, making it suitable for demanding screening applications
- Available in galvanized iron wire and stainless steel wire, with different wire diameters, mesh openings, and panel or roll sizes
- Suitable for mining screens, vibrating screens, sieving, screening, partitions, windows, architectural decoration, food processing, and industrial applications
Detailed Information
Crimped Wire Mesh is a type of woven wire mesh manufactured using a pre-crimping process. Before weaving, the wires are precisely formed using specialized crimping equipment to create controlled bends along the wire. The pre-crimped wires are then woven together to form the finished mesh.
Unlike conventional plain woven wire mesh, the pre-crimping process allows the wires to lock together at their intersections. This provides greater dimensional stability and helps maintain consistent mesh openings during use.
The crimping pattern can be selected according to the wire diameter, mesh opening, and application requirements. Common configurations include Plain Crimped, Intermediate Crimped, Lock Crimped, and Flat Top Crimped.
For applications requiring large openings with relatively fine wires, additional crimps between intersections can improve mesh stability and help prevent movement of the wires. This makes crimped mesh particularly suitable for vibrating screens and sizing applications.
Crimped Wire Mesh can be manufactured from galvanized iron wire, stainless steel wire, and other suitable metal wires. Stainless steel grades such as 201, 304, and 316 can be selected according to corrosion resistance and operating conditions.
Different wire diameters, mesh openings, widths, lengths, and roll or panel sizes can be supplied according to project requirements.
Crimped Wire Mesh Types
Plain Crimped
Plain crimped mesh uses a straightforward over-and-under weaving structure. It is suitable for general screening and applications requiring a stable woven structure.
Intermediate Crimped
Also known as Intercrimped Wire Mesh, this type uses additional crimps between intersections to improve stability, particularly when relatively fine wires are used with larger mesh openings.
Lock Crimped
Lock crimped mesh uses tightly formed intersections to lock the wires in position. It provides high dimensional accuracy, rigid construction, and stable mesh openings, making it suitable for precision screening and heavy-duty applications.
Flat Top Crimped
Flat Top Crimped Wire Mesh has a relatively smooth surface on one side, which can facilitate material flow across the screen surface. It is also used for architectural and construction applications where a flatter appearance is preferred.
Materials
Galvanized Iron Wire
Provides an economical solution for general screening and industrial applications where moderate corrosion resistance is required.
Stainless Steel Wire
Stainless steel provides enhanced corrosion resistance, temperature resistance, and durability. Common grades include:
- SS 201
- SS 304
- SS 316
For more demanding environments, 304 and 316 stainless steel are generally preferred.
Applications
Mining & Quarrying
Used for vibrating screens, sizing screens, aggregate screening, and mineral separation where strength and wear resistance are important.
Screening & Sieving
Suitable for screening and separating materials by particle size in various industrial processes.
Food Processing
Stainless steel crimped mesh can be used for flour sieving, food screening, roasting, drying, and processing equipment.
Architectural Applications
Used for partitions, decorative panels, infill panels, windows, facades, and interior architectural elements.
Construction
Suitable for protective screens, partitions, ventilation panels, and other construction-related applications.
Industrial Processing
Widely used in chemical, pharmaceutical, petroleum, metallurgy, machinery, and general manufacturing applications.
Screening Equipment
Its stable structure and accurate openings make it particularly suitable for vibrating screens and other screening equipment where consistent sizing is required.
